Granite Kitchen Countertops in Bangalore – Timeless Strength for India's Most Demanding Kitchens

Granite is the most heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and durable natural stone for Indian kitchen countertops. It can withstand direct placement of hot pots and pans without damage, resists cutting and chopping scratches, and handles the moisture, masala stains, and heavy use of everyday Indian cooking better than marble or laminate alternatives. When properly sealed, granite also resists bacterial growth — making it one of the most hygienic kitchen countertop materials available.

Why Granite Countertops Outperform Every Alternative for Indian Kitchens

Indian cooking is among the world’s most intensive uses of a kitchen countertop. Hot tawas placed directly on the counter, heavy stone mortar work, turmeric and chilli staining, constant water exposure near the sink, and multiple cooking sessions daily — these conditions eliminate most countertop materials within a few years.

Granite countertops are formed at temperatures exceeding 650°C under massive geological pressure. No Indian kitchen will ever subject your countertop to conditions anywhere near those of its formation. This is why a granite kitchen platform, properly maintained, will outlast the kitchen itself.

Installation Process — What to Expect

Step 1 — Measurement & Template

Our technician visits your home to take precise measurements of your kitchen platform, note the cabinet layout, and plan the slab cutting. This step is critical — incorrect measurements lead to wastage and remakes.

Step 2 — Slab Selection

We recommend visiting our Maheshwari Impex showroom to personally select your granite slab. Since granite is natural, each slab is unique — visiting in person ensures the slab you choose is the one installed in your kitchen.

Step 3 — Fabrication

Your selected slab is precision-cut to template, edge-profiled to your chosen edge design, and sink/cooktop cutouts are made using diamond-blade CNC equipment.

Step 4 — Installation & Sealing

The fabricated countertop is delivered and installed in your kitchen. Following installation, we apply a food-safe granite sealant for immediate protection against staining.

Typical project timeline:

5–10 working days from measurement to installation.

Care & Maintenance of Granite Kitchen Countertops

Daily cleaning:

Wipe with warm water and a mild pH-neutral kitchen cleaner. Avoid bleach and acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus).

Immediate spill attention:

Blot (don’t wipe) oil, turmeric, or coffee spills immediately to prevent deep penetration before sealing can protect.

Annual sealing:

Apply a food-safe granite sealer once a year. Test by sprinkling water — if it beads, the sealant is effective; if it absorbs, resealing is needed.

What to avoid:

Acidic cleaners (lemon, vinegar), abrasive scrubbers, direct impact with heavy tools, and dragging rough objects across the surface.

FAQs

What is the price of granite kitchen countertops in Bangalore? Plus Minus

Granite kitchen countertops in Bangalore are priced from ₹200–₹350 per sq ft (all-in installed) for standard Indian varieties like Absolute Black and Steel Grey. Premium Indian granites like Black Galaxy and Tan Brown range from ₹280–₹380 per sq ft installed. Imported granites like Alaska White cost ₹450–₹700 per sq ft installed.

Which granite is best for Indian kitchen countertops? Plus Minus

Absolute Black and Steel Grey are the most practical choices — they are dense, highly stain-resistant (dark colours hide everyday kitchen marks), and locally available at competitive Bangalore prices. For homeowners wanting a more premium or distinctive look, Black Galaxy (black with gold sparkle) and Tan Brown are excellent choices.

How thick should granite be for a kitchen countertop in India? Plus Minus

20mm is the standard recommended thickness for Indian kitchen countertops. It provides the right structural integrity for the heavy use of Indian cooking and the weight of stone mortar work. 16mm can be used but requires stronger cabinet support.

Can I place hot pots and pans directly on granite kitchen countertops? Plus Minus

Yes — granite is heat-resistant up to approximately 480°C and can handle brief placement of hot pots and pans without damage. However, avoid leaving very hot cookware in one spot for extended periods, and always use trivets when possible to maintain the polish and protect the sealant.

How do I maintain granite kitchen countertops in Bangalore? Plus Minus

Clean daily with warm water and a mild pH-neutral cleaner. Reseal annually with a food-safe granite sealer. Immediately blot oil, turmeric, coffee, and acidic spills. Avoid bleach, vinegar, and abrasive cleaners. With proper care, granite kitchen countertops can last 20–30 years without replacement.

Is granite or quartz better for Indian kitchen countertops? Plus Minus

Both are excellent choices. Granite is a natural stone, more heat-resistant, and generally more affordable in Bangalore. Quartz is engineered, non-porous (no sealing needed), and offers more consistent colour and pattern control. For Indian cooking — with heavy direct heat use — granite’s superior heat resistance is a practical advantage. For low-maintenance preference, quartz has the edge.
